Cycling log - Mysore Ring Road

I had written this long long time back (in September). I am publishing it only now!

Cycling Log
What is this about: Cycling
Location: Mysore
Track: The newly completed ring road
Distance: 45 KM
Date:11/Sep/2005
Start time: 7:15 AM
End time: 10:15 AM
No of cyclists: 1

This time when I went to Mysore I decided to go cycling on the newly completed ring road of Mysore. This is a brand new road with zero potholes and very very less traffic. At many places I couldn’t see even a single human being or vehicle around. But the track is terrific. I am not sure if anyone else has identified that this track is good for cycling. For me it was a great discovery.
My house in Mysore is just 1/2 KM from the ring road. I started at around 7:15 AM. The weather was amazing. It was cloudy and I didn’t get into sun throughout the 3 hour ride. There was nice cool breeze and it used to drizzle slightly in between. The track passes though lots of farms. On the way you get very beautiful view of Chamundi hills. The track passes just next to the amazing Lalit Mahal palace.
In between I stopped only once to have sweet and cool tender coconut.
This was definitely more enjoyable experience than mine and VP’s Bangalore-Mysore trip last year. This was mainly because the distance is very reasonable, the weather was cloudy (last time I was about to faint because of the sun/heat), no potholes (Mysore Bangalore road is no comparison to this) and very very less traffic (on the Bangalore Mysore road trucks would come threateningly close and used to make us go to foot path every now and then).
